Too wet and misty to see the traditional view from here, just huge mountains disappearing into the mist above and below. I love the shapes of the dark pines framing the view..

This was the view from the front door of The Schoolhouse in Dornie on my first morning there this February. Beautiful, crisp start to the day, with a smattering of snow. It wasn’t to last though….wind and rain a coming!

Beautiful sunset in the far northwest corner of Scotland at the end of a short, and very cold, winter’s day – road trip in the campervan!

Couldn’t resist this scene on the way back from Balephuil to Balevuillin, near Balinoe. The bright yellow fields of buttercups and meadow flowers were incredible!

Another amazing sky seen from the ferry, returning from the Isle of Tiree. The dark clouds and striking bursts of sunlight in Scotland never cease to impress!

Just managed to capture this lovely wee boat, Kayla 1, before the tractor arrived to tow it off the beach at Mannal, Tiree.

This is one of my favourite beaches. It goes on for miles and, when the weather closes in, it seems to have no end. I have been running along this beach in the sea haa when you can’t even see the sea – very spooky!

Looking back down the hill eastwards to the road heading back to Tyndrum. I love looking down at the bridge and the trees silhouetted against the loch. After a particularly wet period some of the trees seem to be growing out of the water as land and loch seem to merge into each other!

Having arrived late the night before and parked up at the layby by the burger van (as it seemed comforting to have some company from other campervans at this late hour), I was awoken to the sound of the resident bagpiper playing Scotland the Brave in the pouring rain! So it was on with the coffee…

I popped some of the new season primroses in my favourite Tobias Harrison bowl. Unfortunately he has now stopped making this beautiful pottery so I will have to keep it safe! The primroses are now in the garden!

This was the view looking up The Cuillin from the forestry road in Glen Brittle. It was early morning, April, and the cloud was just beginning to lift and show traces of snow still clinging to the higher peaks. Apologies for the camera reflection – I forgot to photograph this before framing!

The soft colouring of the sky caught my eye – quite uplifting against the dark mass of the buildings.

This is a view looking up The River Orchy. If you turn off the Glen Coe road onto a small single track you can follow the river for miles. At least there are no midges when it’s this cold!

I decided to explore using colour to express the mood of the lighting and weather in this scene of Edinburgh Castle from The West End of Princes Street Gardens. I really loved adding the pale pink highlights to the gentleman’s jacket! Where is he hurrying off to after work….?

I’m starting to become a people watcher! A couple wander through Princes Street Gardens , heading towards The Balmoral Hotel…
