I have been working hard on this portrait! I had forgotten how intense figurative work can be! It is all too easy to make children appear old with brushstokes and shadowed areas! I keep adding layers and rubbing them back to maintain the freshness and translucency of their young skin. Less is definitely more for this painting. The girls also have very different skin tones. I think I will be working on this one for a while as I gradually build up a series of layers and glazes….
